"RIT Bioinformatics Workshop Database Lab" Bioinformatics at RIT, May 19, 2006. Have you ever wanted to search the databases of the various genome projects? If so, exercise number 7 on this site introduces students to searching the various databases through the use of the BLAST tool. In this activity, students are going to determine whether the DNA sequence found within the Jurassic Park book is really "dino DNA." They will then analyze the DNA sequence found within the book, The Lost World. Dr. Mark Boguski at NCBI, included a secret message in the translated sequence.
